MHD has released B58 flashing tools!

The B58 flash maps allow you to control aspects of the tuning previously not possible using JB4 only. When the JB4 alone isn't enough this is going to be the next step to take your cars performance to the next level. Note BMS is not affiliated with MHD and no flashing support is provided. Contact MHD directly for flashing support and additional information as needed.

11/30/22: Latest sets of maps. Some are unchanged, others modified with name/version numbers incremented. Deleted a few random maps that were no longer generally used.


Which BEF to use?

RACE: Intended for most applications including good pump gas fuel like 93 octane up through 30% E85 mixtures, can also be used with WMI.

PUMP: Intended for lower grade fuels such as 91 octane or in applications where less overall timing advance is needed than RACE. PUMP_91 is for very low grade fuel like 89-91 octane.

E40-E60: Intended for most E85 mixtures.

STRAIGHT-85: Intended for those customers running 100% E85 generally in conjunction with the an upgraded high pressure fuel pump like Fuel-IT or Dorsch.

WMI: Indicates a decaying fuel scalar for vehicles equipped with higher volume WMI or CPI systems.

PURE/TURBO: Indicates mapping intended for use with PS2 and other larger turbo options.

Note you only need the flashing license from MHD, do not need to purchase a logging module or any maps.

JB4 B58 map guide as of v13+ firmware:

Note Options bit6 must be enabled for correct mapping when flashed

Map0: Stock tuning, fully disable JB4
Map1: Flash mapping with JB4 active for in dash gauges, boost by gear, CAN flap, etc
Map2: Absolute target map peak boost of 16psi
Map3: Absolute target map peak boost of 18psi
Map4: Absolute target map peak boost of 20psi
Map5: Absolute target map peak boost of 22psi
Map6: Custom tuning map allowing both additive (below 10psi) and absolute (above 10psi) targeting
Map7: WMI map (boost varies based on WMI additive and map settings)
Map8: VALET/Low boost safety map

Pleased to announce we've partnered up with MHD to utilize their flashing platform for JB4 B58 customers to load up back end flash maps!

The B58 flash maps allow us to control aspects of the tuning previously not possible using JB4 alone including changes to the factory fuel caps, torque limiters, throttle behavior, speed limiter, fueling algorithms, and much more. When the JB4 alone isn't enough this is going to be the next step to take your cars performance to the next level. It's especially beneficial for those who want to run E85 mixtures and larger turbos.

The MHD B58 system is currently in BETA and I'm working with Martial to sort out how we're going to implement it. I'll update this thread as soon as I have those details so don't email me. Just post any questions here.

We'll have to see your logs and compare to our BEF logs, to see what the differences are and whether or not it makes sense to change you over later.

I was curious to know about this also. When we flash with the BEF do we still need to keep tweaking around FOL, FUA, duty bias and such like how i did with map 7?

Map0 fully disables the JB4.

With the new JB4 firmware we'll post with the BEF maps, when FUD.6=1 for back end flash mode, map0 remains JB4 fully disabled, and map1 becomes JB4 active for boost by gear, WMI/CPI control, etc, but with no tuning enabled. So map1 makes a great flash only map for those who want to do comparisons or lower boost by gear on their flash map for improved traction.

Download the MHD app to your android device using the link Terry provided. DO NOT use the google play version of the app at this time. Connect your car to android using the K+D-CAN cable. When you do that start the app and buy a flasher license through the app. Don’t buy anything beyond the $249 flash license if you intend to use the JB4 BEF

Bluestacks is for games. USB support seems limited to controllers. No, it won’t work. And it’s a resource hog at that.

Same boat as you. BG has been abundantly slow with shipping. I didn’t want to chance another cable. I would have taken BMS’s cable but it’s designed for USB OTG and I use a regular PC.

My android tablet doesn’t support the app not sure why. I might need to use a friends android phone to be able to flash on Monday or so. I wish they had iPhone support it seems like 8 out of 10 people these days all have iPhones lol.

There will be lots of map changes early on, you need a device that is compatible.

One last question terry I have the jb4 for my 2017 340. When I get the 2020 m340i will this jb4 work on it, and will I need to repurchase the back end flash.

Android-x86 is NOT a boot loader. It’s a fully fledged version of android, same as the one running on a Samsung or other device, but without the customizations the vendors make. It is complied directly from the AOSP which is where everyone else (including Google) contributes. The difference is some smart guys got it compiling on PCs instead of ARM devices. Have at it, it will work. Just get the right cable.

Not an MHD flash but BM3 with JB4 logging, looks healthy, car pulls hard through the revs. Mods are sports c-a-t, panel filter, custom exhaust and BM3 stage 2. Running UK Shell V power fuel.

Thanks. I'd prefer to keep all the B58 JB4 related flash stuff in the same thread. While we use and support MHD ultimately our maps should be compatible with any flashing solution.

I think the m340i uses a newer version of the b58 I know the flash won’t work but wondering if it’s the case also with the jb4

Map 2 on 1st page firmware, with FUD 6 on, 4th gear log, sitting nearer JB4 boost target now. May be one for BM3 to look into in regards to not hitting target.

Check the BM3 threads on f30 etc. They are having issues with a number of cars running under target. They are iterating maps to try and solve the issue currently. Send them your logs if you haven't yet

Yeah I’m working with them atm on logs and test maps, hence why I haven’t added a new log with the JB4, once the test maps are done with then I’ll get another JB4 log and go from there

Hey Terry as mentioned in the first post uninstall the MHD flasher app. That was already done and downloaded the file from the link you provided, but the android device is stating that it cannot be open. Any thoughts?
