  • First Log after BEF

This is new to me, appreciate any advice.

2018 M240 XDrive/15K miles/ca less DP/Intake/Vargas GC turbo/TU pump/Meth injection/XHP trans flash/JB4 set with initial recommended settings. Did the MHD back end flash last night, running Race_Pure_WMI_7cbin map

Thanks Steve!! I'm paranoid I have some setting wrong. But the car seems to be running well. The JB$ is just set on the starting, recommended settings.

I have throttle body meth injection, but a port injection plate is on the bench I'm going to install.

On hard acceleration I go into limp mode. Doesn't happen every time, but it's happened 4-5 times now. At first, I did a re-flash but that did not solve it. I reached out to support and Ando had me run a log on map 1, then map 4. He said those looked fine. And advised me to reload the BEF again.

The code I'm getting from the MHD is:

CF2C11 - Signal (DME/EGS actual crankshaft torque, 0xA5; actual crankshaft torque, 0xA5; FAS driver's choice actual crankshaft torque, 0xA7) invalid, transmitter DME / DDE.

Funny thing is it only went into limp mode once while running logs, and had it floored, but it has done it multiple times when I was accelerating hard on the highway to merge, etc., when I did not even have it floored.

I like the MHD maps as they remove the dp code/ remove speed limiter, etc. But want the scaled meth control. How can I use the JB4 for JUST meth control and them use a OTS map from MHD?

Appreciate you taking a look. Do want a log from the JB4 or the MHD?

He'll want the JB4 log. You should not log with MHD, having anything else plugged in to the ODBII port when running the JB4 can cause issues with CANbus data limitations.

Got it, thanks Steve. Terry's been kind enough to help trouble shoot the issue.

Terry tweaked map 7 for me, the thought being that the map raises the torque limit and that was triggering the xHP which I already have set on 'race' mode. Been running it for a couple days and so far no limp mode. Feels like it does not shift as hard/fast, but it is smoother overall, so that's good.

However, I noticed when I did some hard pulls tonight 60-120 or so, the whole screen of the JB4 flashed red. Did it twice.

                    What does that mean?

That's dependent on your settings in the app. Probably your shift indicator.

Thanks Steve, I never 'set' anything other than initial recommendations upon install. I have a ZF, so was not expecting a whole screen red flash shift light. So freaked me out a little, first thought was 'what did I just blow up' Lol.

Good news is I have not had it go into limp mode since the map tweak. It does not seem to shift quite as it did before, but better than limp.

This weekend I'll be installing the port meth injection plate vs the current TB injection. After that, I'll throw it on a dyno and see what we have. Hoping for 500-550hp to the wheels.

I have not been able to get to a dyno yet, but a trip to the local drag strip confirmed that the car is slower now with a BEF than it was without. I noted this in the above post.

Best I could do was a [email protected], which is just slightly better than a stock 2018 M240i x-drive. So pretty disappointing. I'm no drag racer, and some runs were better than others, but they were all between 12.5-12.9, best reaction time was .071.

                          With the mods I have:
                          -Highflow intake
                          -Meow-less DP
                          -TU fuel Pump
                          -Vargas GC hybrid turbo
-Port Meth injection, with 7th nozzle at charge pipe for cooling
-xHP trans flash set to race mode
                          -JB4 piggyback
                          -BEF tune

I should be much faster than 12.5, I pulled the BEF flash out. Can't recommend it for a set up like mine, spent $547.00 to make my car slower...

I should call out that Steve/Terry were helpful & supportive. But seems the BEF is not compatible with xHP, at least with the other mods I've done. That's my best guess.
I've put too much money and time into this to have it be a few tenths of a second faster than stock.

                          YMMV
