What happens if I just unplug the jb4 from the obd2 ? Will it still work? Or do I need to leave it connected always?

It's best to leave it connected.

So it’s not like the Cobb access port where you can unplug it and everything stays the same?!

When you unplug it the JB4 is unable to read the CANbus data so it doesn't get information like RPM's AFR's, etc. It'll still work but it's best to have it plugged in, especially if running any meth, PI, CPI, etc.

If I don't want to run my Map 6 tune during a track day and just want to run Map 0, is it safe to unplug it for the day after setting map 0 and then use my obd2 port for something like my OBDLink CX for data logging through RaceChrono?

I am not at the point where I want to run map 6 on the track since I'm still trying to get the most out of the turns and learning the braking zones, in/out speeds and more power isn't going to help me learn it any faster.

Thanks just wanted to make sure it stays in 0 and won't mess anything up.

No, it won't mess anything up. I typically use Harry's lap timer or Dragy lap timer for track days and leave the JB4 enabled for tuning and logging.
