Ok I mixed in 4 gallons of "E78" into a tank of 93, which should have me at E27 and 96 octane. Two logs which each have a pull on map 3 and then map 4. Ign6 on the first map 3 run had me worried but it was gone in map 4 and the next map 3-4 runs. Do you see anything concerning?

One interesting thing I noticed is that my E85 values show 24-27 on both runs, and when I was on straight 93 they showed 8-12, yet I don't have the Fuel-It kit. Is it just guessing based on the O2/AFR numbers and where stoich is?

      • Ignore E85 value if you don’t have the fuel it kit. Not accurate and don’t mean anything.

The map4 logs seem generally OK to me.

Without a sensor yes the JB4 will just guess at the E85 mixture.

            Hi Terry,

I have updated the Firmware to the latest version 21/27//5. So far it has been great. 2 days of testing and no boost cut. Tried in different conditions and the results seem good.

Here are the logs for the 2 days of testing. I can email to you the other results where the file size is larger and can't be uploaded here.

            • Hey Terry, new here. Just got my JB4 and plugs in on my Elantra N about a week ago. Just went up to map 4 Saturday and it's feeling like it stutters some. Log attached, no mods just plugs and jb4, should be at E31 based on my math.

Thanks Terry @ BMS, here's another map 4 on ~E27, and I notice in it and others that my fuel Trim hits 50-52 and tapers to around 30, versus your guide that says 40s at peak torque down to 25ish at high revs (which is what I get on map 2 / 93 oct).

Does that mean I'm nearing HPFP limits, or am I fine since FP_H is steady at 11? Curious what a "fuel pump crash" looks like, and what I would see approaching it.

                • Fuel trims peak during spool up especially on E85 mixtures without CPI/WMI. Then drop as fuel enrichment kicks in. Your fuel pump/pressure has nothing to do with fuel trims. Fuel pressure seems fine here.

                  • Just curious I've been running a JB4 in a stinger the past 2 years now going to an Elantra N. Will this JB4 work or do I need a different version?

                    Comment

                    • If the N is a 2L then the same Kia V1 JB4 should be compatible.

                      • First post, Wooo!

Just got my JB4 installed on my '23 Stinger GT2, and had some questions about the firmware. It shows version 21/22//5. I downloaded what I think is the correct newer firmware, "JB4_P21_KIA_28.hex" Is this the newest and correct for my stinger?

I have K&N typhoon intakes and put in HKS M45iL plugs properly gapped.

                        Thanks!!

                          • Log looks normal. On pump gas it's normal to see some timing corrections. If you would like to clean those corrections up, I would recommend raising the octane of your fuel, or trying a couple gallons of E85 to a full tank.

Thanks! That's with 93 octane. I'll try adding some E85 with my next fill up. About 4 gal is what I have been seeing others add with a full tank fill.

It's great! Butt dyno can tell a difference, lol. Been running map 2 with 93 octane. Local Sheetz has a "flex fuel" pump. Going to get a few gallons and test it to see if its e85 or what ever level then maybe try a mix and map 3.

You have quite a bit of knock, Map3 would only make it worse. Try some E85 mix to clean up Map2 first, then maybe give 3 a shot. Until then I wouldn't.....

                                              • E85 run was much cleaner as shown on the bottom capture. At this point, the car's ECU has adapted and learned that the car had inferior fuel. With that said, it does take a while for the ECU to adapt to the new fuel. You can wait and drive the car for a few days, or what most do is disconnect the battery neg. terminal for a few minutes. That will reset the ECU and clear out the adaptive learning and start fresh. You are definitely going in the right direction, and the E85 mix is working. Shoot for E27-30, that seems to work the best for most.

Recently getting bad backfiring and hesitation on medium hard excelleration. Here are couple logs. Suspect might be plugs. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
