Is this compatible with the 3.5 G80 Sport?

It is...but just be aware it's beta and definitely causes some hiccups in it's current state pretty often when you stomp it....As long as you don't dig into the throttle you won't notice the issues. Unfortunately when you stomp on it you get very unreliable power that cuts out forcing you to let off and re apply throttle to get back into the boost.

I’m assuming you haven’t ran anything other than map 1….Soon as you run higher boost it will start cutting out. Map 2 works pretty ok most of the time but you may get occasional boost cut and map 3 and beyond will cut the boost pretty often.

Has there been any further development on finding a resolution to the MAP 2 and 3 issues? I am in the process of installing my unit and would like to know if I should expect issues running MAP 2 or above on 93 octane fuel.

We have not made any changes lately. Some cars work nicely with map2 and map3, others report mild boost oscillation, so its on a car by car basis currently until we can get a problem car on the dyno here to get to the bottom of the issue.

I thought I would update with my experience running the JB4 on my 21 GV80 3.5T. I experienced a bit of difficulty getting mine to “talk” to the car, but I finally figured it out. For some unknown reason, I need to hook mine up to the two TMAP sensors different than what Burger states is correct. For me, I need to hook up the yellow/red connector to the front TMAP (front of engine, down by the radiator) and the brown/black connector to the TMAP on the top of the engine underneath the engine cover. Apparently, this is backwards. When I hooked it up the way the Burger instructions state, my vehicle goes into limp mode and sets a CEL showing codes PC60B and PC609. After a week of trying to figure it out, I contacted the individual who owned the JB4 before me, and he was certain he hooked it up the opposite way. So, I tried his suggestion and sure enough…it works fine now! I can’t understand what’s going on…is mine (being an early model) wired differently than current units? It makes no sense.

Anyway, I tested out Map 1 and it’s running fine. No CEL and no stuttering. I observed a steady 15 psi of boost. I can’t say I had much luck with Map 2. Like others, it’s causing issues. Nearly every pull, it cuts out and the CEL blinks (telling me it’s sensed a misfire). I’m running 93 octane as well. I haven’t been able to see what kind of boost it’s making as it won’t hold and pulls power as soon as it senses a misfire. I suspect the issue is spark plugs, but I can’t say for sure. It would be nice if Burger can get a GV80 onto the dyno and figure this out. As it is, I won’t trust the Map 2 and will stick with Map 1 “tune”.

That might be a red herring, as we've found they run best with yellow up top, brown in front, but if its working for definitely keep it like that!

For those experiencing stumbling and power loss due to misfiring plugs when running Map 2, these plugs have been confirmed to be a direct replacement for the OEM plugs. They are one heat range colder and are iridium. The NGK part number is 97537. They have been tried in a 2021 3.5 T GV80 and worked perfectly. Be forewarned…they are not cheap!

the second part number, 97278 is two heat ranges colder. While it has not been tried yet, for those running ethanol and even higher levels of boost, it may work. It shares all of the same dimensions as the OEM plug. I believe it uses a conventional (non platinum) ground strap and may require more frequent replacing.


In my research, I discovered the 97537 is a commonly used plug in the Subaru/Toyota twins…BRZ and 86. As such, they frequently upgrade to this plug when adding power. They also us the following Denso plug, which appears to be a near direct replacement for the NGK 97537. The one thing I see different is it uses a 10k ohm resistor instead of a 5j ohm resistor. I don’t think this will affect anything as the resistor is designed to prevent interference in electronics (radio, etc). If anything, it will be a “quieter” plug and won’t affect the vehicle’s electronics at all.

I'm pretty certain the issue isn't misfiring unless your actually getting timing pulled or a check engine light....which I'm definitely not experiencing either of. I'm able to run all the way up to Map 5 without misfires on 93 octane E-10. However, anything after Map 1 gets progressively worse in terms of boost cutting in and out. I don't know if it's a fuel starvation issue or what but it's definitely not misfires. I've even tried adding octane booster to raise the fuel to 96 octane to see if it helped and it didn't do a thing.

It’s definitely misfiring. I get a flashing CEL and it goes into limp mode. I confirmed this with a JB4 tech as well who recommended colder plugs. I am curious…what firmware are you running? I use the last stable firmware. I am waiting for the Beta to be finalized before I use it.

Still no fix for Map 2 boost cutting out? Also sometimes my cameras flicker with the JB4 hooked up. What can be the cause of that?

The camera flicker has something to do with the OBDII connection I think. Sorting that out is on my to-do list!

No map2 changes yet. Works for some cars, not for others. The last 3.5 we had in the office had zero issues so we need to get a problem car in here to further sort that out.

Ok so quick question. Once i load my map onto the JB4 can i unhook the Bluetooth connect from OBD? I would like to leave it disconnected unless I’m data logging or changing maps.

Anyone change plugs on here? Trying to see if it will help with the boost cuts in high rpm. Sucks we spend $750+ dollars and can’t use the JB4 reliably. Terry not trying to be a douche but can we get some updates? Is anyone looking into the issue? I know you say you need a problem car on the dyno but shouldn’t logs tell you something? Do you need more logs?

Not come across any issues with spark plugs on the platform, but can't hurt to regap down to 0.022" if you want to try it.

Ok well i don’t want to waste my time if you don’t think it’s plugs. what do you think the issue is? Is it something that can’t be detected on a log?

So i did some testing on a map 6 tune i tapered the boost down from 5psi to 3psi at 4k RPMs and it eliminated the boost cutout and misfires on Map 2.
