  • JB4 Not Communicating

My JB4 was working fine and I got out of my car and went in a store, came back and it was no longer communicating all parameters to my app on my iPhone. I looked at the connections and could not find any issues or pins loose. I did lose a little black screw in the JB4 while doing this, so I will have to get another one but that was after it had stopped working and the one screw secures it enough. Boost still shows and it connects and shows the map it’s in but nothing else. I also redid the firmware and it showed for a minute after that and they stopped again. Any ideas on the issue and do you know the size of those little screws?

Usually an OBDII issue. Photo like this?

It doesn’t appear to be more open on one side. I did anyway try pushing it together more and plugged back in and still the same. It connects and will show boost and map but no other parameters.

I drove the car today and the parameters showed but when it said it was logging, it wasn’t actually saving any data. It then stopped working again and went back to showing just boost and map. I checked wires, OBDII connections and also plugged my regular diagnostic OBDII reader in the port and it reads everything fine so it’s not my OBD port itself. Could it be a bad cord or bad Bluetooth unit or even something with iPhones? The whole unit is only 6 months old

Could just be a bad OBDII cable then. We have replacements on our site if you need one.

JB4 log so I can see firmware?

Without OBDII data nothing will auto log, you'd have to manually start logs, and they will only record boost.

It worked twice and is now back to not communicating any data. Here are the logs from when it did communicate. My ISG is also now flashing, not sure if it thinks something is wrong when the CPI is running and BMS Intercooler in so much cooler temps in the engine. Also noticing there is like an evaporator pump noise coming on and not going off after the car has sat for several hours off. I’m about to take the CPI and whole JB4 out as the issues started after the CPI was added. Could a malfunctioning JB4 be doing these things too or is it something else you think?

Log looks OK. Drop me an email and we can send you anew OBDII cable to see if that resolves the logging issue. [email protected]
