  • 2021 Elantra GT N-Line Auto. Low idle when in Normal Mode. Sport Mode normal.

    Hello All,

    2020 Elantra GT N-Line Automatic. 1.6T

After a longish highway drive, (More than an hour. Normal temperatures. No hot rodding. Mostly steady state 80 mph cruising), when coming to a stop idle speed will drop to little over 455, (usually within the 500-666 range. Almost stalling but not quite), when in normal mode. And I don't mean it dips and recovers. I mean it drops and stays at this very low idle from then on. Clicking on the Sport Mode button brings the idle back up to a normal range where it stays. Until you click back to Normal Mode where it drops down again and stabilizes at this close to stalling idle. This happens in All Maps.

    Any ideas?

Before logging, select "don't group logs" in the logging section. Please upload a new log only recording the issue you are talking about.
    Thanks!

      New log as requested.

"Normal Mode" idle. Rev to stabilize. Drops below normal idle speed.

Switch to "Sport Mode". Same procedure. Rev to stabilize. Return to what should be the normal idle speed.

As outside temperatures increase the problem is less apparent but still occurring. When it is colder it is much more apparent.

Idle still dips but now it stays about 650. Sport Mode still pops it back up. The warmer temperatures are making it hard to duplicate. Since this is Ohio the weather will change in a day or 2 so I will try to get a log when it is colder and it is more apparent.

How is the idle speed controlled? Is there a temperature sensor that might be flaking out??

The JB4 has nothing to do with this. If you think something may actually be wrong, you may want to remove modifications and take it into the dealer.
