    This is going to be the central point of contact or our Stage1 tuner for the Mercedes Benz (W205 Model) C300 & C400.

    The JB4 ships with map 1 selected and currently maps can only be changed with a BMS DATA cable or JB4 Mobile adapter.

    Map 0: Disables tuner
    Map 1: Up to 4psi over stock peak, suitable for all 91 octane+ fuels
    Map 2: Up to 5psi over stock peak, suggested for 93octane+
    Map 3: Up to 5.5psi over stock peak, slightly more aggressive version of map2
    Map 4: Up to 6psi over stock peak, suggested for E30+ or unleaded race gas mixtures
    Map 5: Up to 7psi over stock peak, holding more boost to redline, suggested for E30+ or unleaded race gas mixtures
    Map 6: User definable map, boost over stock entered on user adjustment page

    Stage1->JB4 Upgrade Directions:

    Firmware:

    Note firmware is for JB4 systems only (with OBDII plug installed) and not for Stage1 systems. Loading JB4 firmware to Stage1 systems will render them inoperable at best requiring you to panic email us for Stage1 firmware, and at worst requiring you to remove the tuner and send the Stage1 control board in to be reflashed.

    SENT firmware is for 2019+ C300 systems where firmware version ends in //7 indicating a SENT based system.

    C_2020 firmware is for 2020+ C400/C450/C43 models which has a special CANbus system relative to previous models.

    JB4_MB_C_6:

    1) Changed VALET mode to map8, map4 is now between map3 and map5 boost levels.
    2) Increased sensor sampling rate for smoother performance.

    JB4_MB_C_4:

    1) Added support for optional BCM (Boost Control Module)

    JB4_MB_C_3:

    1) Fixed firmware bug preventing fuel pressure (green) connection from working properly. First generation harnesses (that have an unused purple connection) still must relocate the green wire in pin N54 to pin Groups using a DSUB removal tool. Note this connection remains optional and is only suggested for those running heavy E85 mixtures and high boost levels. Reference photo here: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/attac...1&d=1539975810
    2) Adjusted boost scaling for colder climates, should targeting during colder weather. Note, the ECU is LOAD based so the factory boost target will be lower during colder weather than warmer weather. The difference between boost and ECU_PSI should roughly equal the requested boost over stock target.
    3) Added fuel trim monitoring in bank2, to go along with the existing AFR monitoring in bank2. Useful for troubleshooting fueling problems.

    JB4_MB_C_2_TEST4:

    1) Updates to map1 and map2 to hold more boost towards redline
    2) Adjusted throttle slightly during shifts
    3) Fixed boost scaling/reading issue between pre and post throttle body.

    How to update firmware:

    For firmware updates we suggest you turn off WiFi, change upload timeout to 25, and set your phone next to JB4 box under the hood.

    Download firmware using the new JB4 Mobile firmware database or externally by clicking this link.

      BCM MODULE JB4 ADD ON

      For those looking to push things a little more we have the optional BCM module which is compatible with C400 and C43 models. We expect many 2019 C43 models which are running a little less boost from the factory will benefit from it.

      Installation directions:

      1) Update the JB4 to v4 or newer firmware. On the user adjustment page default FF to 100 and duty bias to the profile shown:

      2) Open hood, lock doors, hide the keys, and wait for 5 min to ECU to go to sleep. Alternatively you can just disconnect the negative battery terminal in the trunk.

      3) Attach the blue control wire to pin#1 on the JB4 connector. To do this you'll need to open the JB4 enclosure, run the pin carefully through the rubber grommet, and plug it in to the spot with the #1 next to it. Once inserted it's not possible to remove without a special tool (DSUB removal tool) so check twice before inserting it.

      4) Attach the BCM ground fork to a suitable chassis ground.

      5) Route the BCM solenoid connections over to the solenoid on the passenger side of the engine under the snorkel and plug it in similar to the other JB4 connections.

      6) Once installed and updated grab a short log and post it to this forum or email it in so we can confirm it's working as expected.

            OK some good progress has been made the last couple of days. I have control over everything we need to successfully tune the vehicle.

            The only hitch is one of the sensors is really difficult to reach. Probably a 30 minute job and a difficult one at that as there isn't much room to work with. You have to pull a few parts out and really contort your hand to get it in. Compare that to maybe 30 seconds total to install the rest of the connections which are right on top of the engine. On the plus side the tune functions nicely without the sensor giving most of the torque gains. You just don't get the power gains above 4500rpm.

            We'll implement this tune similar to how we approach the M3 JB4. We'll Include all the connections on the harness and then allow end users to decide whether the torque gains from Stage1 are enough to keep them happy or whether they want to connect the devil sensor enabling Stage2 to unlock the rest of their top end power.

            I was able to hit the private track for some tuned VBOX Stage2 runs on pump fuel and gains were pretty solid. 0-60 5.3s, 0-100 13.5s, 1/4 mile [email protected] Knocked a full second off the 0-100mph which was impressive. Stage1 times were a bit better than stock but with the car shifting itself around 6000rpm after the first gear you are working from a part of the power band that isn't increased much with Stage1.

                    I don't think we'll get involved with any of the AMG models except maybe the C450 AMG if they make one. The volume just isn't there to justify it.

                        No idea on that but I'd like to look at some of the AMG models to check their electronics.

                            I've been slowly becoming more familiar with the turbo MB vehicles. Have a photo of your TMAP sensor so I can check the electronics?

                              On the C300 front testing has been doing well. We've finalized the wiring harness and are gearing up to produce 100 sets which should take 3-4 weeks. Once done we'll be ready to launch a BETA program.

                                any idea if this is the same engine as the GLA250? The Gla makes a lot less power stock but both are turbo 4's . Can't believe MB makes more then 1...any idea?

                                            The CLA and GLA share the same engine designation 270920.

                                            The C300's engine designation is 274920

                                              found this from Kleemann, in hopes to provide a different approach to tuning.

                                              I just leased a C400 and looking to use your development to tune my car.

                                              I live in So Cal (Inland Empire). In case I can be of assistance during beta testing.


                                              The newly introduced M276 V6 400 CGI turbo engine, delivers 333 HP and 480 NM from the factory. This engine has shown to have a huge hidden power reserve.

                                                    I use a scan-gauge program for basic OBDII data such as boost, timing, and AFR. I'll email you some addl info.

                                                      I love my BMW, but the wife seems to be stuck on Mercedes. She's got a 2009 C300 and the best mod I've found for it adds a whopping 28 hp for $1500. No thanks. We've had the 2013 or 2014 C250 for a loaner while ours was in the shop (been in several times, but the BMW hasn't been in yet. On the other hand, Mercedes is good at getting you a loaner, while you have to be on a list for a month to get a BMW loaner). The C250 is a 1.8L 15psi boosted engine with severe turbo lag. I was not impressed. Our last trip to the dealer, we saw the new C300s & C400s out and the salesman claimed they fixed the lag of the C250. The C300 is a 2L turbo while the C400 is the 3L biturbo. Chances are that the wife's next car will be a C300 or C400 - the C400 comes in a 4-seater convertible that she really digs. I'm glad to see you're developing some tunes for these cars. I hope you can do something similar to the JB4 where I can turn the tune off when she drives and turn it on when I drive, then I will surely get the Benz tune when the time comes!

                                                          Terry there are also the c200 and c250 2 litre turbo versions launched in other countries as well. Bit like the f30 320i and 328i models this will well be a bigger market overseas. Will you be looking at those as well?

                                                                  At some point. Since it's an all wheel drive vehicle dyno testing is not overly convenient. We'll just dyno verify the final result after we're done with the tuning end.

                                                                    C300 tuning has been running strong. Went back out tonight for some testing at the same private track, temps in the low 50s, on E20 fuel. 91 octane + 3 gallons of E85 mixed in. Results were impressive.

                                                                              Terry are we gonna see all 3 models c200,250,300 arriving at the same max tuned whp like the f30 320i/328i scenario where the hardware are all the same the difference being only with the software tunes? Just wondering if you'll be launching the JB4 type multi map tune and not just the stage 1 type for these cars.

                                                                                  I have been doing the same on C400 Beta JB4. I think E20 is a good start for stage 1.

                                                                                  Also adding same mix to my coupe.. very strong results in cooler weather.

                                                                                  Hope it helps in the summer months too.

                                                                                    I assume C300 still has A/S tires and skinny rims? If so, 12.9 say at 106 would be impressive.

                                                                                      Send those logs when you can, and then we'll bump up your timing advance, which I think will open up the top end more.

                                                                                      I'm on the factory all season tires and gained around 4mph. I had another run at 102.5mph but with a little weaker launch and "only" a 13.6et.

                                                                                        tested map 3 with E20.... power delivery was smooth and higher rpm has more pull.

                                                                                        I will test map 2 once weather dries up.

                                                                                        based on my dyno jet experience on past AMG cars, this feels like a 340rwhp with 360rwtq car with map 3 and 3 gallons of E85.

                                                                                        assuming car is about 300rwhp and 320rwtq stock.

                                                                                        any car weighing 3800 and AWD trapping 107 stock is packing more than advertised.

                                                                                        currently boost topping just above 12lbs, and with better octane mix... into 13lbs.

                                                                                        I don't think this car will get to N54 and N55 status.... but it will be a nice option.
                                                                                        1) the engine is is very muted and not as smooth by nature as the inline. there is no separate heat exchanger and air boxes and intake are tiny.
                                                                                        2) both of my MB cars have the 7 sp, it's OK but won't beat the 8sp from BMW
                                                                                        )AWD is nice, but it is designed for grip not performance.

                                                                                        overall very happy with my wife's c400... but I can already tell MBs bread and butter is on the v8 engines and it shows.

                                                                                          tested and logged map 2 with E20 mix (91 oct 12 gal and 3 gal of E85)

                                                                                          mid range boost hit 14lbs around 4k rpm. I was not able to do long sustained runs.. to see what is the drop off boost getting closer to red line. But some runs the closer to 5k rpm boost was still around 12.xx LBS. Not bad at all compared to stock.

                                                                                          But one thing is for sure.. top end is much improved with JB4 Map 3 and 2.

                                                                                          stock is around 9LBS .. tuned already at 14LBS with no issues.

                                                                                          Hope others can find a way to dyno this AWD car and compare the gains.

                                                                                            Good to hear. Maps 2 & 3 run more timing than map 1. Map 1 is more of a pump gas only sort of thing.

                                                                                                  been over 1 month on JB4.. no issues to report.

                                                                                                  Running 3 gallons of E85 on every fill up and the car runs great.

                                                                                                  Currently on Map 2. Can't wait to see more of these W205 cars with JB4 tuning.

                                                                                                    Just as a little update our production harnesses are finally in and testing to this point has been flawless. The same harness is compatible with the C300 & C400 models. We'll be working on the installation manuals today and expect to ship any pending orders Monday.
