This is the dedicated N55 E chassis JB4 thread. Compared to our N55 Stage1 the N55 JB4 includes smoother and stronger tuning, greatly improved turbo lag reduction, our industry leading in dash integration, code reading/deleting, meth integration, E85 support, and much more.

Maps:
Map 0: Stock bypass.
Map 1: 13psi. Suggested for most racing applications.
Map 2: 14psi. Suggested for those with exhaust and 93 RM2 or higher octane.
Map 3: Progressive meth mapping with flow sensor failsafe. See guide to enable. Meth use isn't supported/suggested without a flow sensor and map 3.
Map 4: Stock map w/ CAN active. Allows full logging and in dash gauges on the stock mapping.
Map 5: Autotuning map. Boost ranges between 11-18psi based on your cars octane, conditions, and modifications. Fully E85 compatible. If using E85 we suggest around 30% to start. Refer to the E85 FAQ for addl info. Resets to 93 octane level adaptions when selected and adjusts itself up or down from there.
Map 6: User defined map generally only used for diagnostics or troubleshooting.
Map 7: Race gas map. 18psi peak boost.
General Notes:
1) JB4 has cold/hot oil protection built in. So expect stock like boost until oil temps are > 160 degrees. Same goes for oil temps > 280 degrees.
2) The N55 turbo is relatively undersized and due to this we suggest shifting at a lower RPM for optimal racing performance. We've found 5600-5800rpm works well.
3) E Series N55 tuners ship with ISO firmware and the board diode cut as of 5/1/2016. If your system is loaded with v8/17/12 firmware to update it you must cut the diode on the board per the ISO firmware directions. v8/17/12 was the last non-ISO firmware.
FAQ
Can I upgrade my N55 Stage1 to a JB4?
Upgrade kits are no longer available for Stage1->JB4
I made a post asking for help in this thread and I can't find it now. Where did it go?
Support requests and bug reports are generally deleted or moved from this thread without being read. If you require assistance from BMS email us at [email protected]. Otherwise for forum support or general help me posts please take advantage of n54tech's support section.
What are the default in dash settings?
Menu4 should be set to 3, menu10 set to 3000rpm, menu11 set to 1000rpm, and menu12 set to 2400rpm. If you experience a check engine light during an initial install double check these settings!
What are the menu 5 gauge configuration options for?
The JB4 is defaulted to 335/535 USA mode. If you have a 135 or metric 335/535, you will pick the appropriate option to recalibrate the gauge read outs. Once selected the gauges will all center themselves at midpoint to let you visually verify if you've selected the proper mode.
How do I read codes?
There are two methods. The easiest method for beginners is to connect the laptop interface and use the "read codes" button as indicated in the image below. This will give a full listing along with descriptions. Alternatively for more advanced users or if a laptop isn't available you may use the in dash reading on menu 1 option 1. For additional directions click here.
How does the traction assist work?
If you find traction problems too severe in 1st and/or 2nd gear you can cap the maximum boost/torque achieved in those gears to aid with traction. You'll find them under user settings. A value of 10.0 in 1st and 12.0 in 2nd will limit boost to 10.0psi while in 1st gear and 12.0psi while in 2nd gear. When in 1st or 2nd gear under the boost limit you may hold down the steering wheel volume or talk button to bypass the limit while the button is held down. For example if doing a burn out at the track.
Are E85 fuels supported?
You can run up to 50% E85 on the factory fuel system with the factory N55 turbo. The only requirement is the E85 flex fuel connector with comes standard on new JB4 "typeB" harnesses and remains an add-on for JB4 "typeA" harnesses. The flex fuel connector and directions are on our N55 upgrades page.
How do the new steering wheel controls work?
Wheel Control Guide as of v5.14+ firmware:

How to update firmware:
For firmware updates if having issues we suggest you turn off WiFi, change upload timeout to 25, and set your phone next to JB4 box under the hood.
Download firmware using the new JB4 Mobile firmware database or externally by clicking this link.
