  • JB4 for Fiat Abarth

A little late to the party but better late than never.

Was able to get our hands on a 2015 Fiat Abarth for a little JB4 development and dyno testing. As it turns out the electronics are very similar to the Alfa Romeo and late model Jeep platforms we already support which made tuning it relatively easy.

After a little development and mapping we strapped it down to confirm what the road logs were showing. One nice feature of the JB4 for this platform is you can monitor knock independently in each cylinder which makes dialing in the mapping levels a lot quicker. We were surprised to see how much timing pull it had on stock tuning with 91 octane! Fortunately we were able to settle things down with the JB4 tuning and picked up a substantial chunk of power in the process. And when we poured in little E30 to get the octane level up was able to really open up the top end. It literally drives like a new car vs. the factory tuning.

The Fiat Abarth JB4 uses our highly developed JB4 Mobile app that lets you do full data logging, on the fly map changes, setting changes (such as the optional boost by gear values for traction), run safety systems, and of course custom tuning! It's light years ahead of any of the other tuning boxes available for the platform.

The benefits of the JB4 are obvious for someone on the factory tuning but since we're a little late to the party I expect many of our potential customer base are already running flash maps. And for those flashed customers the JB4 is the perfect tuning companion! You'll be able to datalog what you have including boost, AFR, timing advance, fuel trims, and even knock in each cylinder and then use the JB4s custom tuning options to quickly develop a map to improve your flash tuning in areas where it can be safely improved. This is especially useful if you change between different fuels or want to add in E85 or race gas, and then have a hotter map you can enable for race days. In addition the JB4 provides a lot of advanced safety systems and functionality that can be very useful for flashed vehicles. Using our simple app interface these changes can quickly be made on the fly without having to reflash the vehicle.

For now enjoy the dyno runs and logs! Will have the BETA system up on our site shortly.

Wonder if this will work in the 124 Spider? Has the same engine. We just picked up a Lusso Spider and could do some testing for it. The 124 forum is quite active and will probably be very interested in the JB4. I've been using Burger products since 2008
