  • 2022 Subaru WRX - JB4 updates

About to rejoin the WRX fold after a 22 year hiatus, and have ordered a new 2022 WRX manual sedan due in August…
Whilst I have seen some chatter about the JB4 on the Prime Motoring Facebook page etc, have not seen any sub-forums or threads here…. As such, thought I would get the ball rolling…

I am interested in any updates on JB4 development for the new 2022 WRX as well as any feedback from those who already have experience with beta versions etc…

I am in Perth, Western Australia so would also like to know if the JB4 for the US is identical or compatible with Australian market WRXs…? (and other international markets for others here…)

    TIA
    Coming: 2022 WRX sedan, M6

Australia here also (QLD), picking my RS manual up next week! apparently JB4 is compatible with ADM WRX so will be buying soon might just wait for out of BETA, just had my catback from ETS arrive too so pretty keen to start the mods!

Congrats! My RS is now due earlier than expected – the ship docked yesterday, so hopefully delivery in the next week or so…

I like the stealth install of the JB4 compared to the Cobb AP for example and also that there is no evidence of it ever being fitted if it is ever removed. The Cobb AP is cool, but I don’t think it offers any extra value for me who will probably just set and forget – and I don’t need the extra gauges.

Exhaust wise it is disappointing to lose the Subie rumble and even more so with a louder aftermarket exhaust. I have been impressed with what I have seen of the MRT exhaust for the FA20DIT (haven’t heard it though), but don’t believe they will be available anymore with the apparent demise of MRT Performance…

Please post any exhaust photos - and results once you get the vehicle with the JB4 up and running…

Yeah will do once I've got it, ordered some blackout vinyl's for taillights and emblems as well as the JDM fog light bezels too.

Ended up picking up the setup with no mufflers and no resonator
Part number 200-60-EXH-001 on extreme turbo systems site the guys at Subispeed have a couple vids up on their Youtube with sound clips I recon they sound pretty sweet - ended up costing me about 2700 including import taxes so probably would of been much cheaper getting one fabricated locally!

Yes it is disappointing to lose the rumble it is much more efficient now. you could always whack a set of UEL headers on it, I'm sure Tomei will bring out a set eventually at the cost of some power and possible long term damage haha.

That is a big chunk of change for an exhaust. Which version did you get?

Went with 200-60-EXH-001 its the extreme one just with the polished tips so will probably be loud AF in person but on the vids sounds pretty good, ETS are renown for having exceptional build quality and all the connections are v-band.

But yes I agree, was way too much to fork out on it. Have many plans for yours? wheels or suspension? I picked up some 20s a little while back but no tyres yet.
Also I am from Perth also from Rockingham area beautiful spot.

Without the UEL headers, I don’t think there is a huge amount of difference in exhaust notes. Would like to hear in person before I commit….

No other plans apart from tuning and PPF/ceramic/tint etc at this stage. 99% of my driving is to and from work down the freeway to Kwinana, so can’t justify doing too much to it. I like the standard wheels and the suspension is not too bad albeit a touch high.
