Thanks for the info Terry and Cannon…

          A few more queries:
Will there be any different maps offered in future, and are these at additional cost?
Someone asked on Primes’s FB page about whether JR tuning would be involved with the JB4 maps/tuning - any info on this?
How safe are these maps compare to the factory tunes?
What are the key points of difference between the JB4 and the Cobb AccessPort which seems very popular with the Subaru brigade?

          TIA

            1) Yes we plan to add/enable more maps, firmware updates are always free.
            2) Some tuners work with us for their own mapping needs if what they want is beyond what can be setup in the JB4 user defined map6. I'm not in the loop on that specific tuner though.
            3) The tuning appears safe but generally speaking more boost, more problems. Long term durability with the platform is unknown but we' re not pushing anything crazy. Yet.

So i was having a thought about something. Would pairing this with the Cobb Accessport when it comes out have any advantages? Would i then have almost full standalone control of everything basically?

Usually people don't want to flash until the car is a few years old as flashing leaves permanent traces behind on the car, even if flashed to factory. But assuming someone wanted to flash the JB4 would be used to fine tune whatever changes Cobb was making. So you'd start by logging map0 and we'd evaluate the flash tuning and figure out how to best customize the JB4 mapping from there.

Haha yea, i guess most of the car community doesnt. Subaru people are different breed. We void warranties the month we get the car. As long as the parts are out there to go fast, we will put them on.

But yea, that was kind of my plan in this next year. Ive been running the stock car with E30, foam filter with charcoal delete and a Catback so far and that was a good power bump so far. Cant wait to get this thing to around 400whp tho, as thats where my 02 WRX, 11 WRX and 19 WRX are right around now.

                      Next steps?

I've had my JB4 installed for over a month and have experimented with the 1-4 tunes because my car is largely stock. I've run 93 octane with 10% ethanol and I've mixed 93 and E85 to get to a 30% ethanol blend. So far I'd say the results are favorable. Car performs very close to stock in terms of smoothness and refinement with no CELs or any other untoward behaviors. Car still has a very distinct power band from 3000RPM to 6000RPM but certainly pulls harder in that range.

My question was should I be sending my logs to Burger so they can be looked at for future development? Just curious what I should be looking at to make sure I'm being as safe and responsible as possible.

You got it! Please find logs attached. I have very few modifications. I got rid of the charcoal filter in the airbox and added a high flow air filter. In addition to that I added the high flow STI mufflers but the rest of the exhaust is stock. These logs are also taken while running a mix of approximately 30% ethanol.

That's great! The car sure seems to be running well. I have to say that tune 5 has been the one I've enjoyed the most. Very noticeable improvement in pull and power with some added crackles and pops.

                                    JB4 shipping firmware vs. current

Hi All...writing here as social media and email responses to my log review and questions are very delayed. When I first installed the JB4 with the factory firmware and setting to map 2, the car hauled significant ass up to 5,500 where it seemed to hit a wall. I was advised to update to the latest firmware and see if that resolved the issue which it did however the car doesn't feel nearly as peppy. I am attaching logs for both map 1 and 2, pulls in 2nd and 3rd gears. Based on the data I seem to be down 1-2psi per map vs. what to expect. Would love review/feedback.

Thanks for posting your logs! I didn't realize there was a firmware update already so that's also good to know. I may delay applying the update since you mentioned you felt the car wasn't as responsive.

Start the pull at 3k in 2nd, shift at 6k and continue in 3rd until 6k.

Thank you very much for taking a look...especially on the weekend. It all looked good to me as well, just a little down on the boost but I understand atmospheric conditions contribute to that.

Is there a chart/translator for the IGN sources in the log? I can gather which is the real timing but not sure the others. Some may not be used.

                                                  Thanks!

My bad! That was my first log after installing on my WRX. Was just looking to make sure it was good! I have since swapped to map 3 with E30. Should I post a log for that or should I only be posting logs if theres issues? Ive never worked with the JB4 yet so I am only used to Cobb flashing with E tunes.

Does the JB4 have the ability to display CVT temperature through the connect kit and app? Really interested in the device but I want to make sure I can monitor all the parameters I'd like before buying. Thanks!

                                                              Map 2 and 4 logs and IAT's

Adding a few more logs. There is some debate on if the stock intercooler is sufficient. So far every log I have pulled with map 1, 2 and 4 shows lower IAT's at the end of each pull vs. when starting. I would say it is working just fine at ~20psi.

Map 4 with e30 mix is tickling the taint however map 2 is nice as well.

The car is stuttering on pulls this is a full third gear pool from low 30s to Red line. Could you please help me out thank you in advance

The only thing saving your motor is the extra ethanol. Time to back the boost down or increase fueling. Also, running higher mixes of e85 will cause AFR's to read leaner. I would go back to 93 on map 2 with the CAI and log again.

Setting open loop to 30 seems to counter this effect. A few full throttle runs, 40-90mph, with open loop 0 (default) and open loop 30 would be useful to compare!

Also IN for adding a CVT temp channel to logging feature!

I was wondering what constitutes “bolt on” modifications for Map4? I test fitted the 2022 WRX intake for ETS on the 2023 Outback and it was no bueno. Also no official ********* or headers are here for the Outback. Additionally can I run E30 Map5 with entirely stock parts? Thanks!

This is Map 4 with my open loop set to 30 and I still seem to be leaning out at the top. I am running the ETS intake and e30 currently.

What should I adjust and also how to I go about dialing in a custom tune? Thanks in advance.
