No, it can't be. There isn't much more power to be had tune only IMHO. Maybe a little more with a custom flash tune but to really get going quicker it's going to take addl hard parts and a meth kit. We'll start working on a WW diesel meth kit in the coming weeks.

We really need to find a way to get more hp on the top end while leaving the torque alone.
There is also a lot of interest in a FMIC. There is some speculation that the IC in the 335i is one in the same with the d and based on the picture in real reloem it looks to be very similar. No shop has been able to get their hands on a d to verify though.

A stage 2 would be nice because I think this car is more than capable of handing more fuel, at least according to the logs I've seen.
The problem is going to be how BMS could deliver more fuel without triggering the low rail pressure sensor and thus limp mode/ses lights which is what occurs in many cars when the JBD is set to 100%. I think the only way around this obstacle is with a flash tune and most of the tuners offering flash tunes for our cars are not being any more agressive, putting up similar hp/torque numbers or in some cases lower than that of the JBD.

Dyno Results
Terry,
My 335D has the JBD tune on it, and overall very happy with the performance, nice power increase and has never set off a CEL light. It went into Forge Motorsports for the 1st upgrade intercooler build and test last week. It is going to be dyno'd before and after the tune and with and without the intercooler upgrade tube to fin vs. plate to fin. I'll post some numbers after I pick the car up on Tuesday.
It has already been baseline tuned by them last week, overall they were really pleased the car made 296 rwhp, factory untuned.
I'd be very interested in keeping in touch with you for the meth kit. If your office in the UK wants a test car we can set that up next week, but most likely you do the development in the States.

Terry, jut installed JB Diesel in brand new 2012 (only 105 miles) X5d and no light on factory settings. Hoping to be able to get more out of it! Should I wait to increase the settings? and if so what is your recommendation?

Some good progress has been made by other 335d owners in an effort to squeek out a few more ponies from our cars. Below is a summary...
1) Wagner has a direct bolt-on FMIC in the works. One has already been test fitted and Wagner stated they are gearing up to make 100 right off the bat. CX Racing also has one on the market.
2) A couple of 335d owners have already installed water/met kits (I believe one is made by Snow Performance) on their d's with great success. Lower EGT's along with stronger pulls - no dynos yet.
3) At least one owner is experimenting with stacking a piggyback with an ecu flash, made popular by the diesel truck crowd - so far so good.

REVIEW of the JBD:
I got the JBD not so long ago with the CAN Tool combo.
I have a 2008 facelifted E60 535d with a tune which costed me 3400 USD, this tune involves many harware modifications to, the car is not near emmision legal any more and smokes hard some times. The install took around 2 weeeks to be completed and tested. The car compared to older models has a shorter gear ratio and a different turbo. I have a Vbox, my best time is 16.5 so fare from 60 to 130, only me in the car, so one preson and climate off. I have 19's on the car and much more extras in it the the car below. I dynoed 306chp on a local dyno.
My friend came with hes 2005 before facelift E60 535d to test the JBD. Half of the car is not working, parking radars are not working, ESP is not working, back brakes are almost at 0 and so on... The point is that its a not really well handled car compared to mine, of course this can mean nothing. He has also 19's on the car. The JBD+CAN Tool costed me €350 + shipping, but i ordered other stuff to + import cots around 35%, which measn 550 USD max, the car is i guess still emmision legal with the JBD and did not smoke at all. The install of the JBD and CAN Tool combo was 15 minutes.
This is how my friend did with the JBD:
Stock car with out any tune 2 persons on the same trech of road where i test:
23.5, 22.7, 22.3
With JBD only on 50-60% tune:
20.9, 20.7
With JDB on 100% tune + CAN Tool:
18.2, 18.1, 18.6
These runs ware in D, not DS, just D with out hitting the kickdown.
After the car was running with out problems i told him to bring out the max with manual shifting, 2 persons, climate on and did a:
17.3, 17.8
Long story short, Terry is the best bang for buck probably in the whole world if it comes to BMW's, and he has the best customer service i ever came across.
So all in all Terry must be in the top 5-10 of the world if it comes to BMW tuning!
Now the funnny thing is that i can't get my money back, so i will have to sell my JBD + CAN Tool, but it wont be a hard to find a buyer at all, so i wont loose 1 cent...
Can someone tell me what the JBD changes? It raises the amount of fuel, that i know. But dose it raise also boost?Last edited by lecsoman; 11-02-2012, 12:38 PM.Slow, stupid and angry...

Our trunk mount kits will also be fully compatible. Along with the meth kit we'll need to send you another JBD chip, and there is a wire you need to solder to the JBD. Or you can just send the JBD in to be reflashed and we can solder the wire to the board for you.
On the road it feels great. I did some on/off dyno testing and it gained around 20whp over the JBD only using a 50/50 mix. Overall not bad at all.Does it not allow you to go WOT without kicking down like an N54? I assume those are shifts..

I think its based on the lean running of the diesels to stay economy frendly. If you rich them up, they get stronger, but not eonomy frendly any more. So its a simple thing, which is by BMW's usually not that simple to change, but i think it must be similar by the D cars, so Terry could easy adopt it to other models, like 30d, 25d, 20d.
Keep in mind, that after a long period of time, the filter could be full of stuff, since the car is running much richer, so you have to floor it like a maniac to get it cleaned one in a while. Even Hamann makes the mistake that they tune diesels and the particel filter gets much more than it can filter after like 5000km's or so, since the owner drives mostly normal with the car.Slow, stupid and angry...

terry a question: i have a 335d 286hp remapped by me.
i have done a few test . Jbd increase only rail pressure, w/o change the duration of injection. Stock 286hp X35d motors comes out from bmw with 1600bar CommonRail pump and piezo-injectors.
with my test i have increased the rail injection up to 1700bar, (+100bar than stock), and the power is not 285 whp but more LESS.
my question is: JBD ,how many bars increase the fuel rail pressure to make up 285hwp?535d black 272hp
