  • GR Yaris / GR Corolla

Out of curiosity, any of GR Yaris owners here?
Just got the kit and have tried it out few times.
    Hope we will be more!

Tested with fuel bias adjustment - increasing fuel bias seems to increase the AFR so engine goes to leaner. with 0-10 fuel bias getting AFR close to 12.5:1 on WOT. FOL at 60 and trims btw 25-30

Really looking forward to seeing how this develops. Please share your results.

It could be a great sweet spot between an ECU remap and an unprogrammable tuning box (tdi, dtuk, etc).

We've done a few now, with the added MAF control its working well!

To really drive the platform further though we need to get one in house in the USA. Hopefully Toyota releases the motor here soon.

Hi, Tested the system today and cant make it work in any map. Tried maps 1, 2 and 3 and in all of them after first WOT i get the message ``Reduced Engine Power Visit your Dealer`. Also comparing the kit I've received with the video of the installation, mine has two plugs that aren't shown in the video. Attached pictures. Please advice! Thanks!

The plugs you wonder are for MAF (above airbox) and for OBD connection (small connector).

We have dynoed 307hp/425Nm, but get solid 305hp/425Nm also with mild boost setup.
Without JB4 and modifications dynoed 280hp/400Nm, so JB providing additional 25hp / 25Nm.

Here are our latest dyno results with JB4.
Mods included are Forge airbox inlet duct, Wagner turbo inlet, Wagner IC with charge pipes and HJS Catalysator. Stock exhaust and intake.
Would have likely gotten better results with map1 but due to ecu adaption for map6 ecu didn't like higher boost request. Happy with how it runs on map6 though.
measured 5.9s 50-130kmh on 3rd gear with map6 before dyno run. Best time has been 5.5s on map1, although the best time was with ethanol mix of 25%.
                    This dyno with 98 Octane.

Setup used for map6 for that run. As I like to have constant performance and use the map6 also on track sessions I have opted for mild boost which works fine.
                      AFR's usually around 11.5-12.5.

BTW I did have also that Check engine issue but we managed to sort it out with JB4 support so its worth checking out what Firmware are you using for the box. With the latest firmware I have had zero issues, and have done multiple track days with the car in hot temps (+30'C)

Thanks a lot for all the help, Firmware was updated yesterday to the last one they had available. Today I am installing the Eventuri air filter, hope it makes a difference. Will check the MAF right away! Turbomän

                            did you get it working?
noted that my lower intake box flap sensor wire was detached also during dyno measurement so maybe top HP could have been higher if it was connected. Anyhow, pulls nicely.

Have been driving with map1 for few days in slippery conditions - really nice as car picks up power all the way down from 2krpm.
Really easy to drive in every day traffic!

Yes it's a different variant part number. Hoping to have that released in a week or two.

Not sure if its a real issue (what is the optimum AFR for low to mid range for safe good torque for GDI Engine?) but in GR Yaris AFR tends to get really high before 3.5k and dual injectors kicking in? If possible but if JB4 could adjust fuel pressure in the future it would give some headroom for aftermarket HW tuning (currently interested in the custom cast intake plenum).

Here's my dyno pull from last dyno session where you can get the idea how AFR works.

Most direct injection cars run stoich in the midrange and then richen up as EGT increases.
