Map 3 is a more linear map with boost add peaking from 5000rpm and higher to 6psi over stock so its more a high rpm map.
Map 4 has a hard torque hit and boost tapers at higher rpm.

      • I ended up getting epc and cel after starting the 3rd gear pulls for logging on map one. Bit 0 and 1 are selected. For 2020 Passat Rline 2.0t

          Hi,

The wrong firmware is loaded. Note that the Gen3B cars use specific JB4 units and must be Group 8. Firmware needs to be 26- VAG GEN3B https://dev.jb4connectkit.com/client/firmware/

          • George do you still recommend sticking with OEM spark plugs? I know a few years ago you did and suggested gaping them to 0.026. Running JB4 on map 2, otherwise stock.

Hi, yes to date have never seen them fail unlike the after market plugs.

              • Just picked one of these up used for my 19 A4 quattro, and wanted to ask, does the MAP3 require any supporting mods in the same way that "stage 2" tunes claim to require high flow cats, intercoolers and intakes?

Map 3 is fine to use on 93 octane fuel with no hardware mods.

                  • Hi, just out of curiosity and with no intended disrespect, but has development for the Gen3 version ceased? I have been happily using my JB4 (firmware v8) for a few years now on a 2019 Seat Leon Cupra, but have not seen any firmware updates for at least the last three years... Just wondering, and still a great product!

                    • Hi George, I am from Poland and bought a 2016 Golf 7 GTI Performance. I have JB4 installed in it and I would like to know how to set it reasonably. From the modifications, the car has spark plugs from audi r8, airtec intercooler, MAP Performance DP, sports air filter insert, silicones for turbo and dog bone HPA. In Poland, the car refuels with 95 octane E5 fuel. Could you help me?

                        Hi,

There isnt really much to add to it at this point so no firmware updates planned.

Been running it for a few weeks with little to no issues. I noticed when scanning the car with OBDeleven some of the modules have seen some communication errors on the canbus but nothing that is alarming. Usually only 1 error indicated on the counter. I have not seen pretty much anyone using this on a B9 A4 around here. Haven't seen any dyno numbers or custom maps made for my car either.

Typically the OBD port streams engine data continuously. On some models they require a command to start the data stream. Those bits on activate the command. Jettas, Passats, some Audi A4, A6 require it as well as Porsche Macans.

So I have been trying to do a custom 20psi map for my B9 A4 but having some issues with it reaching targets. The datalogs seem to be missing some values, more importantly WGDC is what I was looking for but it shows up blank in all the logs. Do any of these bits deal with that particular data stream? I noticed there are no definitions for that list and the MAP's have no descriptions either.

                                          Hi,

WGDC is not a added parameter on that model. You can email me logs to [email protected] and I can assist in setting it up. 20psi shouldnt be a issue unless its extremely cold weather.

                                          • Hi everyone I’m looking for some help.

I previously had a jb4 unit installed on my golf mk7 R and all worked perfect, I had a custom map 6 created by Shak.

I have sold the car and now have a mk7.5 230hp gti and have tried to use the jb4 unit but it isn’t working correctly.

I get epic errors, lumpy idle, misfire.
i Am wondering if I need to change the firmware or update it?

any help is very much appreciated

                                              • Been using the JB4 on my A5 B9 since around a year now but I'm pretty sure I could get it working even better...

My problem: I have a Bastuck valved exhaust with connections directly on the OBD port. I can't use the system normally (auto open valves from 70 km/h) and also I feel some laggy acceleration when the JB4 is plugged in. I had some misfires here and there but nothing too crazy.

The unit was mounted on a Golf 7 gti before but I've changed the firmware before using on my Audi.

The JB4 needs to the OBD port exclusively as it uses it for tuning purposes. When sharing the OBD port the data stream slows down to much and at times stops. When the JB4 does see the data it is inactive so it might trigger this event during a pull.

Would it work properly if I disconnect the exhaust from the data pins of the OBD port or does the other pins also make a difference?

Yes, if you leave CAN hi and lo to JB4 exclusively there shouldn't be a issue.

I made a log with Map2 and then directly with Map0. In 4th gear at around 10 degrees Celsius outside temperature. In the log with the Map2 I noticed that between 5000 and 6000 RPM ign_1 has a drop. And ign_3 regulates between 3500 and 4000 rpm. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
Do you have a tip for the values for a Map6?
