  • jB4 and TCU

I'd like to hear opinions on adding a TCU with the JB4. I'd like to hear thoughts on which TCU as well.

    Thanks!

    An interesting question.

The JB4 is using the factory ECU/TCU as far as torque settings go.

So the question I think should be, if you installed a TCU that increased the torque limit would the factory ECU take advantage of that?

I feel like you'd be able to adjust settings in JB4 to account for it. We already are able to stack JB4 on tuned cars too - just not as aggressively I think.

Most TCU flashes max the clamping pressure far sooner than max ECU torque. The clamp starts typically as torque builds up and reaches a max at around 320nm read torque so it is just as effective as on a flashed car.
The big benefit is more the way the transmission works than for clutch slip. Majority of TCU tunes are needed more due to torque limitation on a flashed car than for clamping pressure. On stock turbo benefit is more on how the transmission works if the specific model has lazy programming.
