Default WMI cut with throttle closure - 03-19-2022, 02:55 AM

Does anyone know how to disable the JB4 WMI cut out on part throttle, form my logs I can see that when I am <60% throttle WMI is disabled.

My issue is that I am getting HPFP crashes and limp mode when running e40 at 12.5 AFR, yes I can run a higher AFR and avoid it, but then I get more timing corrections...

What happens is that when I am trying to modulate the throttle at high boost, like > 25psi at 5000rpm for example during the on off throttle transients the WMI cuts out, then HPFP crashes, and limp mode, its not often but very annoying

Note that under full throttle it is rock steady, not even a dip in the HPFP pressure, event up to 28psi at 5000 RPM

I can get a TU HPFP, but with WMI on the B48 is that really necessary?

One recommendation to JB4 developers would be to have a 2 step cutout, for example lets say 40% throttle cuts all the time, then 40-60% cuts only if <25psi pre throttle, as this is only an issue when running high boost

What’s the best way to log? Do I drive regular or do a kickdown, 3 gear pull? Thank you!

To properly evaluate the tuning, we'll need a full throttle JB4 log from 40-90mph on a safe private track.

Since the V19 Firmware, there is a new feature

LagFix BETA (DWP)

Added in v19 and newer firmware this feature is used to boost pedal response and reduce turbo lag during routine driving. LagFix is enabled using the (mislabeled) DWP setting on the JB4 user adjustment page. A value of 0 disables the feature. A value of 100 is the "maximum effect". Most report values of 60-80 feel best behind the wheel so feel free to play around and see what works for your specific driving style.

My question is, where is that WDP setting?
Is it the Default Wastegate Position?

And what is the default setting for the TMAP on the B48 with the V22 Firmware?

Fuel-IT came by the office yesterday with their new 2022 240xi development sled for a little JB4 dyno testing.

The car currently has a JB4, BMS intake, exhaust mod, and a Fuel-IT flex fuel sensor kit. Running an E30+91oct mix for all runs.

Best stock tuning run was 383whp / 395whp, best JB4 run was 461whp / 487wtq, running map5 with a peak boost of around 21psi. Impressive gains for such low boost! Dyno and log attached.

Unhappy very big problems with the JB4 box - 05-23-2022, 11:57 AM

Hello,
I currently have very big problems with the JB4 box. I don't know which map I should drive, so that the engine runs without misfiring.
My car is a 2017 540ix and no OPF. modifications: K&N in-box filter, M-Performance exhaust and 300 cell steel catalytic converter. I always fill up with 98 octane petrol.

I've tried map 1, 2 and 3 but the car jerks every time I drive hard. In Map 4 it doesn't jerk so much but with stop and go traffic, the car smells strongly of petrol.

Now JB4 is off so I drive with Map 0. What else can I try to enjoy the JB4.

thanks for your help!

I've been reviewing my data logs as I'm feeling a dramatic surge under acceleration on MAP2, 98octane, newly installed high flow Active Autowerks catted ******** and cold IATs in an 2022 M240i G42 B58 Xdrive.

After reviewing the logs I have a situation where the Throttle closes rapidly and dramatically (from 100 to 27 - it is at 100% at 3,772RPM, 27% at 3,557RPM then back to 100% at 4,256RPM all in under 2seconds) and causing a surge in acceleration in the car. At the same time the ignition across all three cylinders is dropping from an average of 9 to 1. Boost also drops accordingly from averaging 9 to 5 (50% cut) - but all of this only occurring at that singular timestamp at 3,857RPM.

"40% or more throttle closure normally indicates that boost control adjustment is needed." - I'm seeing a throttle reduction of ~80% and IGN timing reduction of ~70% but only for that split second at 3,857RPM.

See here bolded and highlighted;

I assume this indicates a momentary detonation control situation? Or could it be some sort of boost spike caused by a leak? Or simply traction control intervention (it doesn't feel like TC and I haven't observed the TC light coming on).

The car is definitely dipping in power momentarily and then surging back onto power, the acceleration is not linear in this scenario and feels problematic.

You'd have to attach a CSV log to the post if you want us to review the tuning.

Hi Terry & Team.

Iíve attached a log I took with a 2020 M340i & e30. Car is stock other than JB4. I recorded this log using your recommended map 6 settings. Can you please review and provide feedback? At the end of the log Iím at 100% throttle from 1st through 3rd gear.

Prior to running this map, I ran map 4 with e30 for 2 years & 20k miles with no issues.

Thanks in advance!
